Sara Tedell

Sara R. (Tedell)  Goembel, 69, formerly of Colona, a resident of St. Anthony’s Care Center, Rock Island died there on Friday, August 10, 2018.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th at Colona United Methodist Church, Colona, IL.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  Rev. Mark Horn and Rev. Randy Willers will officiate.  Visitation will be from Noon to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.  Memorials may be made to Education Fund for her grandchildren.  Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sara Ruth Tedell was born February 6, 1949 in Moline, IL the daughter of Martin J. Tedell, Jr. and Lillian “Sunny” (Sundquist) Tedell.  She attended Moline schools and graduated from The Villa De Chantal, Rock Island.  She also received an associate’s degree from Blackhawk College, Moline. On Nov. 23, 1974 at Salem Lutheran Church, Moline she married David Goembel.  He died on Dec. 28, 1992.

Sara was a member of Friends Network in Geneseo and Colona United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed collecting plates, playing bingo, baking and loved animals.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Lewis Whittle, Colona; 2 grandsons, Tyler Nelson and Bretton Ferguson; her mother, Sunny Tedell, Moline, brother-in-law, Doug Kaiser, Moline and special friends, Heidi Christianson and Carl Beckman.  She was preceded in death by her father, husband, daughter Ashley, grandson Matthew and sisters, Anne Kaiser and Laura Enloe.
