Richard "Scotty" Scott, 65, of East Moline, died in flight on Sunday, April 14, 2013, while returning home to his family. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to CASANA (Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America). He was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Moline, the son of Robert and Ardath Kucera Scott. He married Judith Fillmer on Jan. 9, 1972, in Silvis. He served in the East Moline Police Department for more than 29 years, retiring on July 24, 1998. After retirement, he worked at Willow Springs Swim Club in East Moline, drove a school bus for District 37, East Moline, and was a courier for attorney Bill Phares' office. Scotty enjoyed playing poker and traveling. "Storage Wars" had nothing on him and his partner, Todd. More than anything else, he loved it when his family was together. Survivors include his wife, Judy; children (and spouses), Tiffaney (Dan) Matthews, East Moline, Michelle (Al) Johnson, Moline, and Jennifer (Ray) Green, Batesville, Ark.; grandchildren, Kaylee, Ashlee, Haylee, Bryce, Brady, Lukas and Mya; great-grandchildren, Jaylee and Rylee; his mother, Ardath, LaSalle, Ill.; sister, Sharon (Carroll) Coulston, Moline; and brother, Mark (Amy) Scott, Moline. He was preceded in death by his father; and great-grandchild, Maddux. |
