Davey Crockett Craze

Ken Zeigler had a birthday party and wore his coonskin hat.
Ken is in the middle, on the left. His friend from Salem Lutheran, Moline, Steve Tolson is next to him. Greg Keller is smiling, with one knee on the ground. Don Price is the other boy kneeling. Back row: Jeff Hall is second from the right. Jane Rosborough is on the far right. John De Vos is next to Jane.

This coonskin hat, in all its glory, is fun to see now.

I remember the Davey Crockett craze, created by Disney but fueled by every boy's imagination. The coonskin hat was a great treasure to have, until a few years later, when its appearance on the shelf was a source of embarrassment. Notice the other coonskin hat owners, in the comments below.

Every boy had to have a Davey Crockett coonskin hat, with eyes hidden in the back.
